Ephesians 2:8-10

8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. ordained: or, prepared

Romans 8:28-30

28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Titus 3:4-7

4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, love: or, pity

5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; abundantly: Gr. richly

7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

John 10:27-30

27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

30I and my Father are one.

Salvation is the great work of God in saving sinners through His Son and by His Spirit. It is grounded in eternity past (election), accomplished at the cross (redemption), applied in time (regeneration, faith, justification, adoption, sanctification), and consummated in eternity (glorification). It is by grace, through faith, in Christ — and a chain not one link of which we forge.
