Six days of speaking, and on the sixth God says something new: “Let us make man in our image.” For the first time the divine deliberation is spoken in plural and turned toward us. Humanity is set apart — not by size or strength, but by being made to bear the image of God Himself. After this, for the first time, God does not say it was good. He says it was very good.
