Psalm 23
The Shepherd Psalm
It is the most loved poem in the world for good reason. David — once a shepherd boy himself — turns the work of his youth into a confession about the LORD. He does not tell the LORD about Himself; for most of the psalm he speaks of Him in the third person, the way faith reasons with itself. Then in the valley of the shadow, the third person becomes second: “for thou art with me.” Six verses long. Worth a lifetime of meditation.
